- A knob that turns but will not step the flame down
- A worn valve stem past its stop. Rebuilding the single valve is normally possible and beats a whole manifold, provided the parts are still made for that model.
- Touch controls dead down one side
- A surge, and the control took it. Nothing to repair inside the panel — but it is worth checking the supply before fitting a replacement, or the new one goes the same way.
